I've heard a few things about the recent Wikileaks releases, but does anyone have a summary that basically outlines everything? I'll probably read through the actual documents later, but I'd just like to hear if there's anything good.

There are almost 3 million documents. The MSM is cherry picking some for propaganda purposes.
It will take a while for researchers to examine them.

>China, North Korea's biggest ally, is in secret talks with SK and the US to covertly dismantle the NK government and hand the country over to SK
>NK's government is infested with CIA spies
>Saudi Arabia wants the US to invade Iran
>Many other countries in the region also want Iran gone
>Israel and Saudi Arabia are planning invasions of Iran in the event that the US does not instigate first
>European countries who are mostly on-the-fence about Iran are, coincidentally, all judged by US leadership to be run by pussies, incompetent frat boys, and extremely corrupt officials
>China confirmed to be behind multiple high-profile hacks on various sites, companies, and governments
>Only bad thing about US released in these leaks is that the Dept. of State has been spying on every member of the UN

Main things so far still lots of info to be looked through

If there was anything really huge and damning, wouldn't someone have brought it up already?

I mean Assange and his team have had this info for weeks, months? Obviously they know what's in it.

I mean if there were anything HUGE we wouldn't have to wait for people to go through millions of documents- because that's already been done by the people who released them!

So basically, it looks like we haven't learned a whole lot of new info, unless the big stuff is still being repressed.

It's sickening.

America playing "Lets Make A Deal" to get other nations to accept Gitmo detainees. "Want a chance to meet Obama? Your country has to take 2 prisoners!" "Hey Belgium! Want to be more important? We can get you a seat at the grown-up table - take some of these prisoners."

250,000 State Dept. cables cover Iran, NKorea, Putin... MORE
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/nov/28/us-embassy-cable-leak-diplomacy-crisis

• Grave fears in Washington and London over the security of Pakistan's nuclear weapons programme, with officials warning that as the country faces economic collapse, government employees could smuggle out enough nuclear material for terrorists to build a bomb.

• Inappropriate remarks by Prince Andrew about a UK law enforcement agency and a foreign country.

• Suspicions of corruption in the Afghan government, with one cable alleging that vice-president Zia Massoud was carrying $52m in cash when he was stopped during a visit to the United Arab Emirates. Massoud denies taking money out of Afghanistan.

• How the hacker attacks which forced Google to quit China in January were orchestrated by a senior member of the Politburo who typed his own name into the global version of the search engine and found articles criticising him personally.

• Allegations that Russia and its intelligence agencies are using mafia bosses to carry out criminal operations, with one cable reporting that the relationship is so close that the country has become a "virtual mafia state".

• The extraordinarily close relationship between Vladimir Putin, the Russian prime minister, and Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian prime minister, which is causing intense US suspicion. Cables detail allegations of "lavish gifts", lucrative energy contracts and the use by Berlusconi of a "shadowy" Russian-speaking Italiango-between.

• Devastating criticism of the UK's military operations in Afghanistan by US commanders, the Afghan president and local officials in Helmand. The dispatches reveal particular contempt for the failure to impose security around Sangin – the town which has claimed more British lives than any other in the country.

My guess is that they can't release everything at once...some classified info must be withheld for "insurance" purposes

(remember the 1.4 GB encrypted "insurance" file on the Wikileaks website?)

so it's mostly foreign policy stuff?

makes non-interventionism that much more appealing.
