Author has got a decent head on his shoulders:

One of the lessons for me over the holiday is that the message "all of this security theater is exactly what the terrorists want because it bankrupts the country via the cost" works better than the erosion of rights argument. Shouldn't be that way, but I'll go with whatever works.
