i've been playing around with joomla.

good thing about chrome is you can rip the CSS file off of any site you like, copy it into your joomla template editor and then personalize it.

try it out with that site you linked!

Laws, my Drupal was such a learning curve, I could do it but I just don't have time to develop a new skill :o my install was buggered too because I'm trying to remote manage the DNS.

One of my links goes to a place that described my platforms and principles. It will, I hope, link out laterally to list of votes etc. This install only needs to contain who I am what I stand for on the principles and platform, with depth exploration.

I say, divide the State and Federal platform/principles into 5 trunks, (7, two separate trunks for Federalist policy) then make the articles like big buttons, but put the principle on top and beneath the right platform beneath each principle.

Picture-nav point and click through principles and read the platforms that I'll stand on to hold up the principle. Let people click through like mush exploring rabbit trails.

Eventually, annotated Constitutions. State and Federal. Maybe an app for that.

newbitech is working with me on the special project, the virtual caucus; also looking at setting up the data app for the voting record and discussion of upcoming votes.

All I need right now is the simplest frame with 7 top level branches that goes out into my principles and the platforms that uphold them. Others can manage the actual content.

for nc49.org/pp/ I need vBulletin 4 and someone to manage it.

so if i created the menu tree how would i get it to you?

i own a domain and have been building a joomla site on it.

i have artisteer to design the basic template and then use lots of free extensions to pimp it out.

OK, you have seen how the current outline is shaping up on the domain. I would like the user to be able to access that entire outline from the front page in short order. something like turning the top sticky story into a set of buttons I should think.

The material behind many of the buttons, the 'Principles and Platform' areas, will get expanded into full debates behind the frontpage, with commentary and voting - separated voting between in-district members and out-of-district members.

I'll want to be able to connect upcoming votes easily to platform issues in the appropriate area.

i can help-- do you own a domain?

if not you have to do a virtual install using wamp server.

http://www.wampserver.com/en/

once you do that you can modify the pre-installed joomla templates-- or create your own using artisteer or another template creator.

glen-- if i were you i would purchase this extension. it would give your site a professional homogenized look quickly and the user would be able to navigate through your platform using the slider and tab buttons.

it looks good, I will need good images to represent every different idea. I may be able to arrange that. I need to make sure I have enough help managing content though, with vB4 it's less of a roadblock because literally anybody on RPF's could do it. with a CM, there is a little more of a learning curve and I need to make sure of my content volunteers.
