Janet Napolitano, the head of Homeland Security, says that increased security measures may have to expand beyond the nation’s airports (http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/130549-next-step-for-body-scanners-could-be-trains-boats-and-the-metro-) if we’re ever to fully protect ourselves from evildoers. Napolitano, seen here, told Charlie Rose, of PBS, that the nation’s subways and train depots may be the next target of TSA (http://www.crunchgear.com/tag/tsa/)‘s enhanced efforts. Think about it: every time you hop on the A train in New York City you’d need to pass through one of those full-body scanners or face an enhanced pat-down.

Statists are going to need a new catchphrase. "They make the trains run on time" will no longer be valid because this will cause absolutely unreasonable delays. When was the last time "terrorists" tried anything in a subway or bus in the United States anyways?

"The Hill reports that Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says terrorists will continue to look for US vulnerabilities, making tighter security standards necessary. '[Terrorists] are going to continue to probe the system and try to find a way through,' Napolitano said in an interview with Charlie Rose. 'I think the tighter we get on aviation, we have to also be thinking now about going on to mass transit or to trains or maritime (http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/130549-next-step-for-body-scanners-could-be-trains-boats-and-the-metro-).' Napolitano added she hoped the US could get to a place in the future where Americans would not have to be as guarded against terrorist attacks as they are and that she was actively promoting research into the psychology of how a terrorist becomes radicalized. 'The long-term [question] is, how do we get out of this having to have an ever-increasing security apparatus because of terrorists and a terrorist attack?' says Napolitano. 'I think having a better understanding of what causes someone to become a terrorist will be helpful.'"

But of course. And why stop there? If the answer to having security is to give up liberty then there is no end to tyranny. After all if Al Qaeda was a real threat they'd be attacking non airline soft targets by now. If Al Qaeda was a real threat....

They'll just shut the scanners off whenever protestors slow things down too much.

A bend but not break strategy for dealing with opposition.

Canada - No U.S.-style pat-downs here.... (http://www.cbc.ca/politics/story/2010/11/24/airport-screening-strahl.html)

This just in, Canada has the solution to the TSA's problem; It's not the molestation that's the problem, it's that the cattle can see the abuse of their fellow herd. Private feel up rooms will solve it.

Bring the collapse already...
