Ron Paul was announced as the winner of the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Charity Awards Committee yesterday. The award will be presented at its annual bipartisan banquet to be hosted by the White house at the Dulles Hyatt located in Washington, D.C., on December 3rd, 2010.

The Lifetime Achievement award was first presented to Ronald Reagan in 1982 and is given to those who promote the rights of, or work with, private sector charities. Co-Chairman of the Awards Committee, Pat Boone, explained that Congressman Paul was selected for his work protecting the Constitutional rights of nongovernmental organizations. Co-Chairman Doug Wead said that Congressman Paul has been "a lonely sentinel holding back well intentioned but costly new government regulations for nonprofit work."

The committee also voted to honor several others as well. Sam Lamantia, Jr.will be honored with a Charity in Sports Award as one of the organizers behind NFL Charities. Judge Andrew Napolitano will be honored with a Charity Advocate Award. Brian Kilmeade will be awarded with a Charity in the Arts Award. A Corporate Charity Award will be awarded to Anne Beiler, founder of Auntie Anne’s Pretzels. See the Charity Award website announcement for more information.

The Charity Awards was founded in 1979 and normally commands a $2000 a plate ticket from a restricted list of attendees. However, Congressman Paul has requested for tickets to be made available for a nominal price to the general public. It is expected that Barry Goldwater, Jr. and other well known conservatives will be attending and present the awards.
