I thought I'd share a few quotes that I thought were part of the contributing factor about how Americans know little about economics. This was from my government book.
Quote 1: "The time when government could ignore economic problems, confidently asserting that the private marketplace could handle them, has long passed, it it ever existed"
Quote 2: "Whichever fiscal approach politicians favor, one formerly controversial issue is now agreed upon: It is the governments responsibility to use fiscal policy to try to control the economy"
Quote 3: "In a completely free economic system, there was no way to compel the owners of factories to treat workers better"
Now this is an an eight year old book so I dunno..

I could write a book FOR EACH QUOTE as to why those statements are false, ridiculous and just plain funny when one truly looks at things objectively.

I was indoctrinated like that... It took some effort (and a good doctor) to realize how the world really works.
