Refreshing bit of honesty coming from old media. Who would have guessed?

I left a polite response in their comment section.

This kind of olive branch must be greeted respectfully.

Wow.

I am having a terrible day today, but that helped make it a little less bad.

They should be rewarded with hits and comments.

Positive reinforcement, folks. Positive reinforcement.

We are aware of Dr. Paul’s attacks on neo-conservatives, including several heroes for whom our friendship is abiding, and there is no doubt that his views on foreign policy are at odds with those of this newspaper. Yet we don’t believe that his views stem from a hostility to Jews. He is a libertarian and believes that war is a friend of the state, meaning that war invariably empowers the state over the individual. We don’t disagree about that, only about whether the costs of war are justified in the current conflict. Dr. Paul is opposed to foreign aid on constitutional grounds; we’re not so sure he’s wrong about that. His aversion to both war and foreign aid have put him at odds with those of us who support the expeditions in Iraq and Afghanistan and also robust American backing of the Jewish state.

Good stuff. :)

Interesting, if unusual read from a newspaper. I would not get too gushy in the pants over it, but it was a reasonable effort to practice real journalism, which in the case of opinion pieces such as this, should at least attempt the most nominally competent application of reason. They succeeded here and I let them know.

I was surprised to see that degree of composure, especially from a paper out of the stink hole we all know as NY.

I am wondering if this shift away from the typically hard-lined stupidity most papers adhere to these days and ceaselessly shriek in support of has anything to do with some recognition that the current assault on our rights stands to impact what they do for a living in an egregiously negative fashion. Could someone be seeing a glint of light? I barely dare hope.

Do a "Ron Paul" search over there, I have to say, they were covering him way back in 2007.

That is refreshing.

Whatever DID happen to agreeing to disagree, agreeably?

The Sun, being a smaller, struggling paper in NY, has always been more open to at least contemplating a libertarian vision without constant venom. I have memories of sitting down in their offices in 2004 to pitch local LP organized events, and noticed the most open minded reporters were the young ones, who were the majority working there at that time. Maybe there is a pro-Paul evolution going on in some print media, to parallel the TV changes in tone coming from Beck and others.

I am an Israeli, and a big Israeli patriot. I am considered hawkish in Israeli politics, and yet I completely support Ron Paul in his foreign policy, even when that includes withdrawal of aid from Israel.

You can easily spot a man who is an American patriot and strong believer in western values. Those who say he is an antisemite act very immaturely.

Great article, left a comment that I am an RP supporter and that I may consider subscribing to the paper, if this type of journalism continues and I thanked them.
