The RunRonPaul.com moneybomb is nearing the 2,000 pledge mark at 1,849 pledges total. The pledges are promises by supporters to give one hundred dollars each on a specific date that will be announced after Ron Paul has declared his candidacy for President for the 2012 election cycle. During the 2008 Ron Paul Presidential campaign donations consistently doubled pledges and estimates are that the RunRonPaul.com moneybomb is already set to raise over $400,000.

During the past year Ron Paul has been quoted as saying he will run if people show they would support his bid for the presidency.

Ron Paul supporters can pledge to give $100 on a moneybomb at http://www.RunRonPaul.com.

we need a lot more pledges, I think ads should be put up on RPF and the DP for this and on Facebook, a message could be sent out to the RPF and DP lists too

I wonder how many Meet Up groups are still functional and if we can spread the word to the groups.

An ad on Alex Jone's website would probably be beneficial also. Might be time to start networking to get the word out. Daily Paul also.

Hmmmm....we might need a few volunteers to send emails to the groups. I remember Liberty Eagle and I spent a day or two doing it during the last moneybomb. Took us a day or two fulltime to contact them all.

BTW there are no privacy, no terms and conditions on the website. I know a lot of people see that as phishing site.

I'll put a banner up once we have the new software running. (Scheduled for Wednesday AM.)

Elwar is working on a December 16th 2010 moneybomb, but I don't believe Ron is going to announce til 2011.

Dont worry too much, once he announces I am sure more will sign up. Wont hurt to contact the meet up groups to make them aware.

+1

If Ron Paul doesn't announce by Dec. 16 (which it's looking more likely as we get closer), I'll encourage our pledges to sign up for runronpaul or just donate on the given day.

Don't take this the wrong way... but I have some questions:

- Who is holding this money bomb? (why not RP campaign themselves?)

- What do they make for running this money bomb? What fees if any do they charge/collect/keep?

- Who holds the money received and what is it used for?

- What if he doesn't run - where does this money go?

- Why not just set this up as "pledges" and if he runs the $$ goes right to his campaign avoiding any middle-man fees and costs.

I think these are all fair questions.

Trevor Lyman is running the RunRonPaul.com moneybomb. I'm running the TheRonPaulTeaParty.com moneybomb.

No fees.

The pledge site is merely a site where you pledge to later donate at the Ron Paul campaign website.

- What if he doesn't run - where does this money go?

If he doesn't run, he won't have a place to donate when the date arrives. So there will be no money donated.

- Why not just set this up as "pledges" and if he runs the $$ goes right to his campaign avoiding any middle-man fees and costs.

Great idea!

I hate it when sites ask me for my email address and don't have a policy posted stating what they will and will not do with that information. I'll definitely be donating $100 if Ron runs, but I'm not about to put my email address on another list somewhere on the internets. Is this list going to eventually be sold/distributed to political campaigns, PACs, etc.?

No fees.

So if I give $100, all of that - every penny - goes to RP directly - no percentage is kept or diverted for any other purpose ? Does this apply to the other money bomb held by T.L. or just yours? Are the records from previous money bombs that people donating can view to see how it has been handled in the past? There are no backend credit-card earning fees to the holder of the MB?

Tranparency in this type of thing is huge IMHO.

It's a pledge site.

On the moneybomb day you go to Ron Paul's campaign page to donate.

Never donate to a website other than the campaigns if you want it to go to the campaign.

No money goes to the pledge site. You'll get an e-mail that day reminding you to donate to the campaign.

We have never had a moneybomb site try and take donations directly.

There was however a group that put up a pledge site for Schiff's first moneybomb and then they took in $20,000 for "fundraising consulting"

Lyman and one other person had site plans for Schiff's first moneybomb. This opportunist group moved the volunteer efforts out of the way.

What if we promote/market this as the grassroots are "building a money bomb"? In other words the date is uncertain. We get pledges from people to give on whatever date RP announces. On that day the bomb is "detonated". That way it will hopefully make the media coverage of his announcement even bigger...

From RunRonPaul.com

We will announce the date of the money bomb as soon as Ron Paul launches his official campaign website for the 2012 election.
