66 seems a bit young to pass - and only 2 days short of his 67th birthday... :(

Robert Butler (http://www.facebook.com/robertdbutler2?v=wall), who is very well connected into the Libertarian Party says this:

We are sad to inform you of the passing of one of our party's founders, David Nolan. David passed away today suddenly from a heart attack. His birthday was this coming Tuesday, and he posted this event as his birthday wish: to raise money for charity. Please click this link to donate. David most recently ran against Jo...hn McCain for Senate in AZ, and was a member of the Libertarian National Committee. He is also known for the Nolan Chart, the diamond shaped political quiz.

Who is Robert Butler? (http://www.independentpoliticalreport.com/2009/01/libertarian-party-of-texas-press-release-on-new-executive-director/)

AUSTIN – January 5, 2009 – The Libertarian Party of Texas (LPT) has announced that Robert Butler is replacing Wes Benedict as its executive director.

Robert Butler comes to the Libertarian Party of Texas from a political consulting position in Washington, D.C. He previously served as the executive director of the Libertarian Party of Ohio.

I got to meet him in person, 2009 Students For Liberty conference, Arizona State University. He gave a great speech about the possible paths America can take now that we're in a recession, had a Q&A session with we the students. God bless David Nolan, for giving the voters of America a chance to choose liberty. That's the most important choice we need. R.I.P.

All these libertarians seem to die early. Harry Browne was only 72 I think. Murray Rothbard wasn't very old. RP is really healthy though and should make it at least well into his 80s.

Alex Jones is only like 35 but looks mid 40's easy, and will die young if he doesn't change.

I think libertarianism just seems to take it's toll on people fighting for it, unless they have a handle on diet & exercise.

David Nolan, Libertarian founder, dies at 66 (http://www.tucsonsentinel.com/local/report/112110_nolan_obit)

Tucson Sentinel
Nov 21, 2010

Tucsonan David F. Nolan, one of the founders of the Libertarian Party, died Sunday just two days before his 67th birthday.

Nolan, influenced by the works of Ayn Rand and Robert Heinlein, helped found the Libertarian Party in 1971, following President Richard Nixon's implementation of wage and price controls.

Yeah, but look at what is starting to happen to the GOP....

To someone above, Rand said in one of his appearances that his Grandfather used a hand hoe on a back acre well into his 90s. I'm counting on Ron having those genes....

Heart attacks aren't very painful?

Maybe if they happen in one's sleep.

What sucks are those heart attacks that persist as chest pains for hours which people write off as heartburn, and then the person's clock stops ticking.

I think David Nolan saw what was becoming of the libertarian party after Barr got nominated in 2008. I agree that it will probably become republicanized, at least, long before the republican party ever becomes libertarianized.

If we lived in a libertarian system he would likely still be alive. Once people are free to use their labors as they see fit, they will soon recognize that life is the ultimate good.

It's nutty that we live in a world where money and resources are thrown at war mongers and medical researchers have to go begging for money. You would think that people would figure out what really threatens them.

Good for David Nolan for making his life worth while.

I'm just sick about it. It's a terrible loss for his family and liberty.

Thank you, David, for your lifelong commitment to the advancement and preservation of all our liberty.
