After receiving nearly 1,000 unsolicited comments over the past week about stepped-up security procedures, the U.S. Travel Association has launched a website that encourages passengers to share their opinions with the Obama Administration, Congress and the travel industry.

Though comments submitted to YourTravelVoice.org are private, the industry trade group is also posting public feedback on a Facebook page and via Twitter, with tweets tagged #travelvoice.

"It was clear to us that there was some national concern about this issue. We are hoping that this website can help people express those views so we can all work together," the group's executive vice president, Geoff Freeman, told Reuters.

"Currently, the system is not built with the travelers' vision in mind," he added. "As of now, Congress has established an unachievable goal for (the Transportation Security Administration) by telling them to eliminate all risk. That's not possible."

The TSA ramped up security after two air packages containing bombs, both sent from Yemen and addressed to synagogues in Chicago, were intercepted in Britain and Dubai.

But public backlash has been growing, with several groups calling for boycotts of the new measures. On Friday, incoming leaders of the House Transportation Committee called the airport pat-down procedures "overly intrusive" and demanded that the TSA restrict their use to only the highest risk passengers.
