Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle who campaigned on lowering property taxes, is potentially being recalled for raising taxes. I say potentially because the signatures were just turned in and are in the process of verification.

This recall effort was headed by influential members of the County Republican party of witch I am a member. I had nothing to do with the effort other than signing the petition myself.

There was a lot of suburban influence in this recall as well due to a wheel tax on people living outside the city that work in the city.

It's always good to hold politicians accountable by available means. Good luck

A wheel tax is a "fee" levied on all citizens of the city to help pay for roads. Now they are extending it tou out of city commuters by trying to get the businesses to with hold $50 a year. The company I work for has about 20 employees and at least 8 of them commute to the city. What a ridiculous tax.

"Wheel tax"?

WTF?

Common practice throughout American cities. Add the additional tax instead of cutting spending . Thieves .

"Wheel tax"?

WTF?

Yes this is a common way for communities to raise taxes instead of cutting spending when times are tough , as is slightly raising the county tax or creating /raising a city tax .Sneaky stuff where they screw you for .25 to .75 percent and expect to not be held accountable because half the people do not notice .

If Bill said that , did he steal that line from Biden ?

There's something exceptionally douchebagish about collecting signatures for a recall on the election day; unless it wasn't his election day.

I'm pro recall. Even if California had elected Satan I was glad to see Davis go.

It wasn't his election day. You can't recall a mayor that hasn't been elected.
