“I’m not sure that commodity prices necessarily translate directly and proportionately into food costs,” Mr. Vilsack said in an interview, adding, “They go up and down all the time.” (WSJ (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703688704575621041286149972.html?m od=mktw))

Translation : If we just make sure that the governments around the world continue with truly destructive policies, we are certain that enough people will become unemployed and close in on starvation to keep food prices down. If we just make sure that people cannot afford food, prices should stay subdued.

….the legacy of a world that has suffered from 80 years of economic illiteracy. Congratulations, you are of course right. I suspect that we end up somewhere in the middle, where half the people are starving and the other half have to spend most of their non-existent income on just almost-unpayable food prices. Hoorah! If you ever encounter someone working at the US Department of Agriculture, ask them how it feels to be complicit in covering up the turning of the US into a third world nation. Probably gives them a warm, fuzzy feeling at night, as they count their government bureucrat salaries. REVOLT!
