As for the company’s other political connections, it also appears that none other than George Soros, the billionaire funder of the country’s liberal political infrastructure, owns 11,300 shares of OSI Systems Inc., the company that owns Rapiscan. Not surprisingly, OSI’s stock has appreciated considerably over the course of the year. Soros certainly is a savvy investor.

The company has 18 million shares outstanding so Sorro's portion is not that big at 11,300. He is definately not a significant player as far as shareholders go. Certainly wouldn't classify him as a "major investor".

$35.

Big deal, a half a million bucks. :-/ Attacks like these don't help the argument.

Oh, by the way, this isn't their only business interest.

It operates in three divisions: Security, Healthcare, and Optoelectronics and Manufacturing.

The Security division offers security and inspection systems under the Rapiscan Systems name. Its products are used to inspect baggage, cargo, vehicles, and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs, and other contraband, as well as to screen people. These products are also used in the verification of cargo manifests for the purpose of assessing duties, and monitoring the export and import of controlled materials.

The Healthcare division provides patient monitoring, diagnostic cardiology, and anesthesia delivery and ventilation systems under the Spacelabs name. These products are used in critical care, emergency, and perioperative areas within hospitals, physician’s offices, medical clinics, and ambulatory surgery centers.

The Optoelectronics and Manufacturing division designs, manufactures, and markets optoelectronic devices under the OSI Optoelectronics name. It also provides electronics manufacturing services under the OSI Electronics name for use in a range of applications, including aerospace and defense electronics, security and inspection systems, medical imaging and diagnostics, computed tomography, telecommunications, office automation, computer peripherals, and industrial automation.

Yeah, the poor guy is only worth about $14 billion. $400 grand isn't that much by comparison. If Ron Paul has any mutual funds (or any of you) he (or you) may also be a shareholder in the company.

Welcome to the new economy where money is made not by innovation, but speculation on what garbage the government will subsidize.

Nice to see RPFs look rational. :o

Ron Paul has about as much in gold-related stocks (though he's worth far less than Soros -- almost all of Ron's money is in gold-related stocks -- you can check Ron's 2008 financial disclosure form here (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/congress/fin_dis/2008/p000583.pdf)) and yet one of his major issues is pushing against fiat currency, so if you want to try tying monetary gain to politics......

I thought RP's floor speech against the TSA was great.................... for the most part.

Major Investor?

Really?

He owns about 0.05% of the shares of the parent company, which is about 0.003% if Soros's wealth.

I doubt he's using this investment as his major source of wealth, lol.
