anyone find the total amount alarming?

The Obama administration has tried to address some of those issues, offering an additional $4.1 billion – on top of the allocated $80 billion – for modernization of the U.S. nuclear complex

I think this is for 10 years. But what is the government spending 80 billion on for the nuclear complex. Must be a ton of paper shufflers in the DOE and NNSA. Alot of people staring at and reprocessing a ton of uranium. This can of worms was opened years ago and nobody in government really has a clue on how to minimize its cost to the taxpayers.

Whats is interesting is that the big government theme is consistent in the nuclear complex (an arm of the Military industrial complex mind you) as it is with the defense department and all other things in the name of "national defense" like homeland security and TSA.. Democrats, neo-cons, independants - all spenders, keeping a bunch of government workers and their buddies at all the contractors busy.
