About 7:40 in the video.

I'm sure he doesn't mean, "Close down shop and bring the troops home," but it's good rhetoric.

He would prefer to just "kill, kill, kill!"

I've heard some things from him, and he sure didn't sound non-interventionist. But that post below is good news.

Rep. Allen West: ‘You Have to’ Cut Defense; New Strategy Needed for Afghanistan (http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2010/11/rep-elect-allen-west-you-have-to-cut-defense-new-strategy-needed-for-afghanistan.html)

ABC News
November 16, 2010

On ABC’s “Top Line” today, Rep.-elect Allen West, a retired US army lieutenant colonel who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, told us that “you have to” subject Pentagon spending to cuts if the nation plans to seriously grapple with the budget deficit.

He also called for a new strategy in Afghanistan that focuses less on “nation-building” and more on confronting new threats.

“Nothing can be sacrosanct,” said West, R-Fla.

On Afghanistan, West said, “we have to look at how we can be successful on the ground and these combat theaters of operation. The 21st century battlefield is a totally different battlefield. We have to get away from occupation, nation-building style warfare. I think that our national security strategy should focus on denying the enemy sanctuary. Cyber warfare is going to become a huge part of this, the information operations aspect of it. And those are the type of things we have to look at.”

Based on his time as a military adviser in Afghanistan, West said, “I think we've lost focus on the enemy, and we've gotten too far focused on nation-building. And that is one of the critical things I want to look at.”

To him, all of Islam is the enemy. I wonder if he'll physically assault Keith Ellison when the Black Caucus meets.

To him, all of Islam is the enemy.

Yeah, he really hates that "Coexist" bumper sticker.

Also:

Make no mistake, we are a nation at war against a totalitarian theocratic political ideology that glorifies death rather than celebrating life. To defeat it, we must stay on the offensive. From Afghanistan and Iraq to the Greater Middle East and South America, radical Islam is on the march. And while our attention is focused on combating global terrorism, we must not forget other looming threats just on the horizon in China, North Korea, Venezuela, Russia & Iran. These nations and their leaders represent the biggest threat to our great nation. As your Congressman, I will work to reestablish American Exceptionalism by growing and modernizing America’s Armed forces to ensure that we are prepared for the strategic challenges ahead. Like President Reagan, I believe that peace is best kept through a strong national defense.

I got a tax policy that'll break yer neck -- BYAAHHHHH!

Me neither but I keep hearing about how anti-semetic people are racist against against religion. Maybe we should ask semetic experts how racism against religion works.

Allen West (R-FL) is one of those new T-party congressmen. Retired on a fat military pension as he gets another government paycheck, he tells Congressional Quarterly that the US must “stay on the offensive against Islamic radicalism,” and that “Israel…needs stronger representation in Congress.”

Above all, the Jewish State needs stronger representation in Congress and a solid voice that will not be afraid to stand up to the Obama Administration’s appeasement of Islamic terrorism. As a combat veteran who has faced our common enemy, my commitment to Israel will rise above mere statements of support.

This guy is a real gem, not to mention the fact that he got fined five grand for essentially torturing an Iraqi detainee, he has the balls to claim a mantle of "fiscal conservatism" when, as far as I can tell, he's never had a real job in his whole life, every "career" has been a government paycheck of some sort.

And then has the temerity to bring up the constitution as he swears fealty and representation in the US citizen's house for a foreign nation.

You do realize that Semites are an ethnicity, right?

Semitic peoples and their languages, in both modern and ancient historic times, have covered a broad area bridging Africa, Western Asia and the Arabian Peninsula. The earliest historic (written) evidences of them are found in the Fertile Crescent, an area encompassing the Akkadian, Babylonian and Assyrian civilizations along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers (modern Iraq), extending northwest into southern Asia Minor (modern Turkey) and the Levant (modern Syria and Lebanon along the eastern Mediterranean. Early traces of Semitic speakers are found, too, in South Arabian inscriptions in Yemen, Eritrea, Northern Ethiopia, and after this in Carthage (modern Tunisia) and later still, in Roman times, in Nabataean inscriptions from Petra (modern Jordan) south into Arabia.

Are they Semites if they're outside of those regions?

my dad was telling me that the arab side of his family (he has a smidgen of berber) can be traced, if you go back about 400 years, to Yemen.

our tribe was kicked out of Yemen, and then kicked out of Egypt, until they finally reached Morocco.
