WASHINGTON — The top Republican in the Senate has reversed course and endorsed a moratorium on pork-barrel projects known as "earmarks." Those are special funding requests lawmakers slip into legislation for home-state projects.

This just means Obama gets to earmark it instead. TARP and the stimulus are examples of bills without earmarks. The real issue is not introducing or voting on these spending bills. I notice Coburn said he would attach the ban to a food safety bill. So the earmark test will be whether you vote for that disaster...

i remember the obama state of the union address, in which he said he was going to try to cut the deficit/debt, but wasnt going to touch medicare, medicaid, SS, or military spending.
well, refusing to touch 70-80% of the budget gets us nowhere fast
