something this guy doesn't mention, is that TARP was just a distraction, to allow much more money fly out the window unnoticed while the debate raged over TARP.

The Troubled Asset Relief Program wasn’t really a bank bailout after all, but instead was the “most successful government financial program ever,” banking analyst Dick Bove said.

It kept a bunch of poorly run businesses afloat. I think this should be extended to restaurants with gross food, filthy nail salons, and furniture stores that don't resort to gimmicks.

From the article: "More than half the TARP banks have repaid the money and the Treasury Department has netted a $28 billion profit so far. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp also has brought in $12 billion on its guarantee program while the Federal Reserve “may have made” an additional $20 billion, Bove said."

Interesting. Doesn't success mean that it works? I suspect that the $28 billion profit to the treasury is akin to GM paying back their debt. Nice accounting tricks.

If TARP was successful, then why $600 billion of QE2? More success?

if one is liberal, its better than anything FDR or LBJ signs?
it trumps THE MARSHALL PLAN, SEATO, NATO and LEND-LEASE?
if one is conservative, it would be an anathema for being
an EXPENSIVE way to toss a drowning person only half a rope!
