"He did not know whether the vehicle or any of its occupants were hit."

Where did those bullets go?

Police fire on car fleeing traffic stop, officer dragged alongside

November 12, 2010

SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco police fired on a SUV Friday afternoon in The City’s Hayes Valley neighborhood after the driver fled a traffic stop, dragging an officer alongside the car for a short distance, a police spokesman said.
...
According to police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza, officers pulled over a tan or gold Chevrolet Blazer with two men inside as part of a suspected narcotics investigation.

When one of the officers approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, the driver “made some movement toward the center console area of the vehicle,” Esparza said.

When the officer tried to pull the driver’s arm away from the console, the driver took off, dragging the officer a few feet before he broke free, according to Esparza.

Another officer then opened fire on the fleeing vehicle, Esparza said.

He did not know whether the vehicle or any of its occupants were hit.

More questions than answers. (as usual)

Was it a "traffic stop"? Of an investigation? (or a fishing expedition)

Why did the officer grab on to the vehicle (like he could physically hold it there)
Why did he not just let go rather than being dragged. (fuckin' stupid)

Why would he fire his weapon without a clear target and a good reason.

Good question. That is pretty vague. Could be something like they thought one of the occupants was smoking a marijuana cigarette. Or they had stopped in a place where drugs are sometimes sold. Who knows kind of excuse they had.

Excuse?

Firing a weapon (deadly force) Demands a very good reason,,,not an "excuse".

If they are above the law, then they should be above the laws of physics.
