OLYMPIA, Wash. – Retailers have a week to clear millions of dollars worth of alcoholic energy drinks from their shelves after state regulators banned them Wednesday, citing the hospitalization of nine dangerously drunk college students last month.
The emergency ban, similar to those in Michigan, Utah and Oklahoma, takes effect Nov. 18. Washington's rule targets beer-based drinks that also feature caffeine, such as the malt-liquor energy drink Four Loko.

I actually like that stuff. It isn't the greatest tasting but it sure does pick you up with a nice buzz! Figures that once again a few idiots ruin it for everyone else and politicians think they win brownie points for banning a substance that 99% of people use responsibly.

My cheap friends aren't thrilled about this. I'm thinking of becoming a Four Loko dealer.

And I just wanted to add: from my understanding (I haven't read the link) this was an overreaction to a few stupid 19 year old kids drinking several of these and thinking that they were ruffied or something like that. (One four loko = about 4 beers if I remember correctly)

I doubt the stores will just pour out all those drinks or throw them into the trash. My guess is that if you're tight with one of the owners, they will cut you a deal on their remaining stock. That's how the K2 works where it's banned.

HAHAHA I loved how they showed everyone how to do it. Reminds me of that Dave Chappelle skit where he tries to tell kids that the drugs are bad, and then describes the effects and how he got them (meanwhile the kids are taking down notes)

The only way for Washington to really protect all of the students this age is to ban college kids . That solves that . Give me the next problem . :)
