(Written by an American expat living the European Union)

This purpose of this diary is not to recruit people to move to the European Union but rather to support people who have already made that decision by providing an informational resource.

While it may be difficult to qualify for emigration to the European Union as part of the investor class. Most people are unaware that they may qualify for EU citizenship through their parents or in some cases their grandparents. Therefore this is much of the focus of this diary, to provide some basic background info and helpful links to government and other websites as a starting point for emigration information.

Generally speaking unlike in America, the EU countries by law must provide access to universal medical, paid sick leave, paid maternity leave and paid annual leave, and that's just for starters!...

Just be extra careful what you draw in your cartoons once you get there.

I hope everyone on DailyKos takes this proposition.

It's win-win. They get to move to countries that actually share their ideals, and we have one less obstacle in restoring the Republic.

Makes you feel kinda sorry for the pro-liberty people in Europe. They're trying to create freedom, but American Leftists come over and impose socialism on them. It's like the leftists have failed to ram socialism down Americans' throats, so they're trying again in Europe.

Heh, the Socialists are heading to the EU while AnCaps are heading to New Hampshire. Hopefully that will mean fewer Socialists in NH to make things bad for those of us planning on moving there.

Good I hope they all leave. If they can't respect the rights of those around them and want to force their views on others...literally we would be better off without them.

If only they all were like minded rather than trying to use government to extract peoples liberties and treasure for their own benefit.

Perhaps a free state-like project should start in Europe, where liberty lovers all move to one country.

I think the socialists of the world should cram themselves into a specifically designated single country, such as for example North Korea. There they can enjoy all the benefits of a state-run economy, including but not limited to persistent starvation.

This is a horrible idea. There are so many liberal hotties out there. I love liberal women. Great in the sack and fun to argue with. Don't take them away from me Europe. Please don't

Sincerely,

Slutter McGee

I doubt the readers of Daily Kos readers have any idea that Sweden is the socialist haven they all think it is. The above link has some brief comments on the country.

Perhaps they need one at democratunderground on how to move to Cuba.

Moving to a region ravaged by austerity cuts. I'm certainly not gloating because there is worse to come here, but did they really think this one out?

It'd be great if people who desired that sort of governance moved there. It is rather greedy to push America into a direction when they already have a valid alternative. Those who wish for the historic America have no other options.

I lived in Europe for a few years. I love Europe - it's beautiful. But I didn't truly appreciate life in America until I lived over there.

So good - send these people over to see how their hospitals are compared to ours. Maybe it will wake them up.

Bye!

With all the filthy socialist nations on the planet, I always did wonder why leftists insist on turning the US into yet another one.

The State of Missouri (Or Montana) alone has more military capability than the entirity of Canada. :D

Oh wait...only the Standing Army has any military capability according to most here -- nevermind me. /sarc

If only there could be an exchange program in which we trade in the Kos readers who insist on being coddled for the pro-liberty Europeans. Especially the people behind the Strasbourg Tea Party for Ron. That would be awesome.

Also, it would not have come to this if the three branches would simply follow the Constitution, especially the 10th, you know, so you can vote with your feet (http://www.prisonplanet.com/you-cant-vote-with-your-feet-without-the-10th-amendment.html).

Many times, I want to expatriate myself. But I have far fewer choices than the leftists.

It's one of the main reasons I think they're so f'n stupid. I'd even chip in to help them move...until that gives them the idea that emigration costs should be paid for by the "government."

I have actually thought of it myself (not for the reasons mentioned in the article) since my kids are dual citizens and my husband is French. I do not like their social welfare system, and the constant strikes would drive me nuts, but I do enjoy it there. The food is great and I would enjoy the challenge of living in a different culture and learning the language. (I am trying right now, but I am lazy.) If only we were independently wealthy and could split our time.

But no, I wouldn't flee the US at this point..things are kinda bad everywhere it seems. however, I do worry about the endless war machine over here and the continual growth of the police state. Obviously, unless you move to an island somewhere you can't get away from that, which is why I prefer to stay put and help change things here.

I can see how you would feel like that. Even when I visit for extended periods, I miss the USA like crazy and appreciate things here so much more. But I do like the challenge of living in different places. I just don't like the social welfare systems there, so no, we probably wouldn't be moving (unless my husband missed home too much).

Probably, I tend to have a different meter than my IRL friends too. Show us a pair of sisters and we'll pretty much always differ on who we find attractive.

Start a foundation that trades 1 for 1 Commie doctor for libertarian doctor, Commie barber for libertarian barber, Commie teacher for libertarian teacher. Help each one move and get settled, rely on private donations and make deals with the governments to switch citizenships. Everybody gets what they want, and variations should average out.
