With about 14000 absentee ballots counted, Joe Miller has gained 1221 on the write-ins. (Thank you, US military!)

Write-ins 88,044 (40.55%)
Miller (R) 75,826 (34.92%)
McAddams (D) 50,975 (23.47%)
Haase (L) 1,191 (0.55%)
Carter 764 (0.35%)
Gianoutsos 371 (0.17%)

About 8000 more absentee ballots to be counted today, more will be counted later.

Cool! He has an excellent shot if the write-in margin drops to 4-5%. Let's hope it goes to 3%!

It's something. He needs to pick up the pace AND there needs to be a high write-in disqualification rate.

What's your source by the way?

This is the page that gets updated as the votes are tallied.

I don't think any write-ins for Miller count towards his vote count. It only takes away from Murkowski.

Edit: Just realized this about absentee vote count NOT write-in count.

The AK SoS reversed his position and said write-ins for Miller would count.

Oh, nice! What about the 'intent' debate? Are only correct spellings of Murkowski going to count or are they counting what the voter intended?

Unresolved - both Miller and Murkowski have prepared teams of lawyers . . .

I hope that only the correct spellings are allowed. This will end up in the courts for sure.

I hope so too, but it will almost certainly be correct spellings and some misspellings that the judges determine were intended for Murkowski. It just depends on how far they're going to go with that. Will it just be "Lissa Murcowski," or will they allow "Mircouskee" as well, or somewhere in between? If it's the former, Miller has a decent shot as it stands. If it's the latter, the margin would have to be much smaller as it stands.

IMO only one mistaken letter should be allowed. It doesn't take rocket science to copy the name off of the write-in list or carry a newspaper clipping in with you to the polls.

"Voting rights" shouldn't include the accommodation of dunces.

5% of the overall vote, though. We need to make it so 5% of Lisa's write-ins need to be invalidated.

Miller saw a slight uptick on intrade today:

This goes to show you that every vote counts. There could have easily have been 5,000 Miller supporters who didn't turn out.
