I will be starting a parliamentary debate project next week and need to have one side arguing for increased security measures and one side arguing against.

My plan is to have a compromise that increases physical nationwide security ie: cargo container scanning & tighter borders while decreasing citizen surveillance and police state vs individuals style action.

Here is what I have so far...

NSA Wiretapping

Extraordinary rendition, torture, enemy combatant

Patriot act, warrant-less search and surveillance

Formation of DHS, militarization of local police depts.

~~

Cargo screening, radiological, increased source scrutiny

Physical asset protection, ie: reinforcement of critical infrastructure,

Cockpit security, reinforced cabin, tools for pilot defense, etc

GPS required on every phone

expanding on warrantless surveillance - your own driveway is not private property. Don't forget the GPS devices on the car fiasco awhile back.

TSA increases. Also the pat downs until they 'hit resistance' if you don't want the new scanners.

"Free speech zones", fenced off areas far from the action, around many events.

a push for Real ID. Needing a passport or enhanced driver's license to get across to Canada.
