Here's the timeline:

Tues. (Nov. 9): Counting of early votes and absentee ballots
Wed. (Nov. 10): Review and counting of write-in votes begins
Fri. (Nov. 12): Counting of questioned ballots
Mon.-Tues (Nov. 15-16): Continued counting of absentee and questioned ballots
Wed. (Nov. 17): Counting of special advanced overseas ballots
Mon. (Nov. 29): Election results are certified

Miller cites past write-in elections in his assumption that as many as 7.8 percent of the write-in votes will be disqualified for one reason or another.

Assuming 7.8 percent of write-in votes do get tossed, total write-ins would still outpace Miller by more than 6,000 votes -- a gap that he'd need to close by taking more than 60 percent of the absentee ballots (assuming the bulk of those votes will go to either him or Murkowski, and not Scott McAdams, the Democrat who is trailing in the race) -- a feat that would require Miller to significantly outperform the trend set on Election Day when he took 34 percent of the vote.
