Sen. Martinez quits as RNC chairman

USA Today

WASHINGTON Mel Martinez, the Florida senator handpicked by President Bush to become the public face of the GOP, resigned Friday as head of the Republican National Committee.

"It was my goal as general chairman to lead the party as it established the structure and raised the resources necessary to support our presidential candidate and ensure Republican victories next November. I believe we have accomplished those goals," Martinez said in a statement.

He barely had time to do anything. I hope they get a Ron Paul like person to take over.
