First few minutes had Ron Paul criticizing the modern conservative movement. It's going to be an ongoing series on Sunday's at 9pm EST. I'm sure it'll wind up being more friendly to the neocons but I like this type of "intellectual history" stuff. Maybe others do as well.

It's on right now.

Talking about Goldwater and Conscience of a Conservative now.
Newt Gingrich had to throw in his two cents about him.

Fortunately, Pat Buchanan is also a commentator. :D

Goldwater was New Right, not Old Right. Taft, Buffett, Lindbergh, Anti-New Dealers, Anti-interventionists, Anti-Fed libertarians like AJ Nock, H.L. Mencken, etc. were Old Right. They won't mention those guys at all. I would be pleasantly surprised if they did however.

It wasn't too bad for what you'd expect from a 1 hour Fox special. They did skip the old right and went right to the 1950's when Buckley started National Review. I guess there will be five more parts.

Just starting to watch Part 1 now. Surprised they featured Ron Paul in the intro saying "The conservative movement of the last 10-15-20 years has been a complete hoax". OK, better than I expected from FoxNews, I think to myself.

Then the introduction by Brit Hume. "At the turn of the 19th century, American was in the so-called progressive era. Presidents such as Teddy Roosevelt..."

Doi! You mean "turn of the 20th century", genius?

Pretty good summary of the Alger Hiss affair. Reminded of this quote from Joe Sobran (http://www.wildwestcycle.com/f_pensees.htm) " those who most loudly insist on Alger Hiss's innocence are those who would be least offended by his guilt. That is probably what they mean by innocence."
