I'm beginning not to trust Mike. Savage is a weird one indeed. He's neo-con one moment - against Bush the next. Jewish - but I can't tell if he loves Israel or wants to put America first always. He hates San Francisco - and lives near San Francisco. He was a huge liberal in his youth - now a strong conservative. He mentions Rothschild in this clip - but then goes on to talk about things "under Obama" as if all the others, including the Republicans didn't have massive spending under this banksters. He was (I think) for the wars but now doesn't like them.

He has been inviting the Southern Avenger onto his show often in the past year - I hope this is helping him to further wake up.

I don't know - I feel like this is a somewhat recovering neo-con who is learning "our" ways. Still, he has this almost racist (or ACTUALLY racist) overtone on his show that puts a bad taste in my mouth. We're all against illegals, but not because of their skin color or the language they speak. It's because of the welfare state. But that's not what he goes after. He thinks they are greedy slime who better learn English or get the F out. He's one of those fearful white people that's nervous the "mexicans" are going to overrun us, or that the brown "arabs" are going to blow all of us and our freedoms up into tiny pieces. He is filled with fear.

Savage is not a racist. He's nationalistic and he actually is pretty Constitutionalist on most issues. He's been pretty consistent with his message over the years: "Bush is a socialist, but Gore would have been a communist." He'll get no argument from me there. I disagree with him on foreign policy, some. His foreign policy boils down to Iraq not being a threat and war with them a huge mistake on Bush's part, if only because it destabilizes the region and puts Iran one step closer to superpower status. So he wants the country to either win the war decisively or not fight it at all.

I disagree even more on civil liberty issues. He believes in racial profiling and ending all immigration from "Muslim countries".

I've listened to him over the years. He's very smart, well-educated (unlike most of the other hacks on the radio), he has an interesting style, and he is entertaining. Even if you don't agree with him on all the issues you have to admit he isn't boring.

Well, I'm not one to call others out as specifically racist. Racists know who they are, and that's that. Savage has Muslim friends, Muslim listeners, and even Muslim callers. I personally don't agree with racial profiling and singling out particular countries to end immigration with, but my opinion is likely in the minority. Lot's of people including our caring friends on the Left have the same opinion on Muslims, they just hide it better. I appreciate Michael's forthrightness on certain issues even if they may bother me.

Michael seems to believe that europeans are more intelligent than mestizo mexicans and he uses facts to back it up. He brought up the IQ of nations thing about a year ago. Is science racist? He's inconsistent, I agree. He was for the wars (with Bush) and then reversed stance on that. I think he may be just toeing the "Repubs are good" (Dems are evil) line when he mentions Obama. Being a good company man, maybe...

I take issue with this, because the manipulation and twisting of the word "racist" has caused us many problems from reactionaries. The topic is Savage (see title of thread) and every time I listen to his show RACE comes up within 10 seconds of tuning in. He is the one who is race obsessed, not me.
