Keep Keith!
On Olbermann’s unjust suspension. by Bill Kristol (http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/keep-keith_514980.html)

MSNBC’s suspension of Keith Olbermann is ludicrous.

First, he donated money to candidates he liked. He didn’t take money, or favors, in a way that influenced his reporting.

Second, he’s not a reporter. It’s an opinion show. If Olbermann wants to put his money where his mouth is, more power to him.

Third, GE, the corporate parent of MSNBC, gives money to political organizations. GE executives and, I’m sure, NBC executives give money. Why can’t Olbermann?

Perhaps Olbermann violated NBC News “policy and standards.” But NBC doesn’t have real news standards for MSNBC—otherwise the channel wouldn’t exist. It’s a little strange to get all high and mighty now.

But there’s now a Republican House, and perhaps GE is trying to curry favor by dumping Olbermann?

Republicans of the world, show you believe in the free expression of opinion! Tell the crony corporatists at NBC—keep Keith!

You'd almost think this a publicity stunt for Olbermann ratings or maybe the new management really just dislike him that much.

Enough demagoguery about this issue.

Its not a free speech issue. Ollbermann has been fired because of a clause on a contact he voluntarily signed. Whether MSNBC had other motives (which I thin its obvious) is irrelevant.

Kristol must be in touch with his inner liberal.

They're not going to fire Olbermann, and they never were, else he'd be gone already. They're just giving him a little slap on the wrist.

But seriously - Olbermann spend the last six months screeching that Fox News allowed their employees to make political contributions, then turned around and did the same thing he claimed was so vile?

http://www.mrc.org/bmi/articles/2010/Million_Dollar_Babies_CNN_MSNBC_Bash_News_Corp_Don ation_Hide_Own_Political_Contributions.html
On the August 17 edition of ‘Countdown,’ host Keith Olbermann used the donations to do the only thing he’s capable of doing: criticizing Fox News.

“We now have another million reasons why Fox News is the Republican news channel, correct?” Olbermann asked Media Matters president Eric Burns.

Olbermann said that GE, MSNBC’s parent company, donated an equal amount of money to both the DGA and RGA. He didn’t mention, however, that according to OpenSecrets.org, in 2008, 100 percent of MSNBC Cable’s donations went to Democrats and 99 percent of NBC’s donations went to Democrats.

Additionally, so far in 2010, 100 percent of ABC News’s donations have gone to Democrats and CBS Corporation’s PAC has contributed $51,000 to Democrats in 2010.

The Media Research Center previously noted News Corp.’s donations favored Democrats and that other outlets critical of the donation, such as Viacom’s Comedy Central, have all given substantial money to Democrats, yet there is no outrage over their political contributions.

Look! There's Media Matters again, pushing some half-truth out because liberals are stupid enough to believe everything they read that trashes the Republicans.

And didn't Olbermann also give the candidates he supported airtime at the same time he gave them money?

There you are with that intellectual dishonesty again. There is no new management. The Comcast deal isn't done yet.

There will be no new management. Or the "new" management will be managed by the same old management.

The entire MSM is a tool. The Ministry of Propaganda.

I can't believe that people here still don't get it.
