If the right forces us all to either defend Wright or tear him down, no matter what we choose, we lose the game they’ve put upon us. Instead, take one of them — Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists. Ask: why do they have such a deep-seated problem with a black politician who unites the country? What lurks behind those problems? This makes *them* sputter with rage, which in turn leads to overreaction and self-destruction.

it's too bad the issue on the discussion boards isn't about the money, it's about who is criticizing the President and why rather than "MY GOD! YOU'VE GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME! THAT MUCH? THAT'S OBFUCKINGSCENE!"

it's about how all the previous presidential forays cost zillions, and thus we shouldn't be pissed about this, rather than how fucked up are these guys if they can't get a dude to India and keep him safe for helluva lot less money.
