I once was hopeful that after a NP resignation, JD would be better positioned to take her place. However, his super unfortunate polling numbers has me thinking it does not matter now - he has no chance against whoever runs on the DEM ticket.

Tell me JD will consider running as a Democrat in San Francisco, and I may take interest again. Tell me he's running as a GOP somewhere else, and I may take interest.

I hope you are right - I would love to see her gone. I just pictured her more as someone who will cling to whatever power she has for as long as possible. I could see the scenario where she leaves though. /cross fingers

Good idea! A low-turnout primary can easily be won, especially if support from Gonzalez, Sheehan etc. can be maintained.

No chance to win that district. It is not like Pelosi is just some popular democrat in that district. The people of that district BELIEVE in socialism. Relabeling anybody that is spouting free market words will NOT make a win in that district. Any attempt is a complete waste of money and effort.

I think the most likely event is that Pelosi will step aside from the leadership and not run for reelection in 2012. Her most likely replacement is a former mayor (Newsom?) or a current member of the San Francisco City Council.

I think you misunderstand the system. If she resigns, she takes a cushy job as a "consultant" to some enormous firm and peddles influence.

She won't have to give up private jets. She'll probably get one for herself as under-the-table compensation for some regulatory loophole in the making.

Maybe , if I was in her position at her age , I would retire and hang out at my vineyard , drink some wine and bs with the grandkids .
