Just heard on CNN that is the Colorado Governors race does not have at least 10% for the GOP they will no longer be a "Major Party"

So even if Tancredo cannot win this could be a HUGE shake-up.

My question is: What happens in 2010 if the GOP is no longer a certified party in Co.??

They will have to hit the streets and collect signatures to get on the ballot next time.

Dan Maes stole votes from Tom Tancredo and lost majority status. /facepalm.

Nothing will happen. They'll just change the law.

How so?

The normal way. They'll vote on it in the Colorado legislature, and the governor will sign it. And voila, the GOP will be on the ballot again.

The Governor and SOS are both Democrats. Good luck with that.

Lol, I wish something like this would happen in Georgia. It would be sweet justice for the LP to have the GOP beg on its knees not to have to go out and collect signatures.

No Libertarian in the state of Georgia has gotten over 5% this evening. You have to get 20% in a state-wide race to get full ballot access. The highest scoring libertarian yet has 4.9% at the moment, and that is the candidate for state-superintendent of schools. That's right. Just one in twenty Georgia voters believe that parents should have more input when it comes to educating their children.

Dan Maes - 11% (http://www.cbsnews.com/election2010/state.shtml?state=co&tag=el2010states;el2010statesDropDown)

Republicans keep majority status.

only 1% stands between the GOP being almost forgotten and the GOP being in it's usual slot on the ballot? coooool!

Is it correct, though, that one result from this, regardless of what happens to the GOP, is that the Constitution Party is now a major party in CO?

If so, they better take advantage of that and start filling the ballots with local candidates for 2012.

I've seriously got my eye on CO as the next hotspot for liberty.

I think Tancredo has done so well because his prior reputation as a republican.

At least this signals that people are willing to vote for third party.

That would really piss off the GOP. I think it was already relatively easy to get on the ballot in Colorado anyway.
