Only one precinct left in Nash county to report... the small town of Castalia. Probably not enough votes to tip things.

Still waiting on Cypress Creek and Dunn to report in Franklin county. Glenn has done well in the southern end of the county so far.

I think the map above may be inaccurate for Nash. The NC website says "27 of 27 precincts completed" so maybe Castalia is not part of district 49.

That would mean we just need the Franklin and Halifax county returrns to finish.

There's also a large gerrymandered section that goes northeast, iirc. I dont see it on that map.

Franklin is complete. He got one remaining precinct and lost the other one. Still leads the vote, though:

John May (DEM) 8,420

He has an 880 vote lead. One of the remaining precincts in Halifax is rural. The last two precincts in the city of Roanoke Rapids will decide the race.

There was nowhere for May to hide.

Glen got a 431 vote advantage in Halifax and 446 in Franklin.

Democratic contributors really need to ask their Executive Committee why they poured $120K on a race, only to lose it to an unknown candidate, outspent 5 to 1.

My gut says the story is people saw how hard Glen and RPH worked for their votes. The television ads just did not mean much to small town constituents.

Glen used old fashioned politics, not mass mailers and tv ads. He went door-to-door asking people for their vote. I witnessed how EFFECTIVE it is and it is THE reason that Glen won this election. We absolutely need to copy his tactics for Ron's 2012 campaign. Targeting voters (not everyone) with an honest message and honest intentions.

Gunny will be the people's microphone in the NC General Assembly.

Some of the ex-Legislators like John Rhodes and Fern Shubert have tried to describe how ugly the process is, among the good ol boys on Jones street. Now there will be more corraboration.
