There's nothing wrong with holding some of those positions, as long as you don't make them grating. Buck may have crossed that threshold by getting caught up in secondary issues.

Ken Buck is much more George Bush in 2000 (say shit to get elected, then go berserker rage when in office) than Ron Paul (obviously, the genuine article).

Ken Buck. He's a superficial liberty candidate. Don't be surprised when he ends up voting like DeMint instead of Ron.

You guys really need to inform me how a pro-PATRIOT Act, pro-War On Terror, pro-foreign intervention, pro-farm subsidies, pro-Gitmo, pro-wiretapping politician is an asset if the goal is liberty.

In all seriousness, Russ Feingold was as much an ally of ours as DeMint. If not more. He was anti-everything I listed above.

Furthermore, the hope is to get people who will vote like Ron, not DeMint.

It's called building a coalition. And Russ succumbed to the beast by voting for healthcare. I don't grieve for him. He did it to himself.

I'm well aware that Feingold was socialist. I'm asking:

How is Feingold being mostly with us with regards to foreign policy and civil liberties but not economic policy not good enough, but DeMint being against us in foreign policy and civil liberties but with us (minus some corporatist leanings) on economic policy suddenly good enough?

If we're building a coalition, isn't 2/3 agreement better than 1/3 agreement?

no. forcing us to buy health care is worse than bombing foreigners, because it is coercion against us. you can only defend other people's rights after you can defend your own.

So... supporting PATRIOT Act and civil liberties violations isn't coercion against us?

C'mon, man.

Jim DeMint, 5% personal freedom score:

http://www.ontheissues.org/VoteMatch/candidate_map.asp?a1=5&a2=5&a3=5&a4=1&a5=3&a6=1&a7=1&a8=4&a9=1&a10=1&a11=5&a12=1&a13=2&a14=5&a15=5&a16=1&a17=1&a18=4&a19=5&a20=5&i1=1&i2=1&i3=1&i4=1&p=5&e=93&t=5

Not someone worth praise.

Might as well praise John Boehner. Equal economic freedom score, higher personal freedom score:

http://www.ontheissues.org/VoteMatch/candidate_map.asp?a1=5&a2=5&a3=5&a4=1&a5=2&a6=1&a7=1&a8=5&a9=1&a10=1&a11=5&a12=2&a13=1&a14=5&a15=4&a16=1&a17=1&a18=2&a19=5&a20=4&i1=1&i2=1&i3=1&i4=1&p=10&e=93&t=5

Sherrod Brown is the exact inverse of DeMint: 90% personal freedom, 5% economic freedom.

Mitch McConnell scored 10% personal freedom and 95% economic freedom. Do you support McConnell? Grassley: 10%, 90%.

war is coercion on us because we are forced to pay for it either through taxation or inflation. Plus the patriot act is a deal breaker for me, if you voted for that, you are not a friend of liberty no matter how many times you try and tell me differently. I would vote against Demint before I'd ever vote for him.

Buck is now down 5k votes with 87% reporting. He was up 3.5k with 86% reporting. I wonder what's taking Colorado so long.

Looking at the map, the red districts are already 100%. The districts for Bennit are still not fully done reporting the results, so it looks like the gap will increase. The hope lies in Colorado Springs, which hasn't reported yet, but I don't know if they tend red or blue.
