(Results will look close with Fayette County coming in first, and Louisville following, but Rand will pull away as the night goes on. Fox News will be the first station in in the country to call it, and they may do it really early. Also, Liberty.)

Fayette is a heavily democratic county. It went for Bruce Lunsford over McConnell in 2008. So don't freak out when the first results trickle in. ;)

Conway is outpacing Obama dramatically 10%+ in these rural counties. These are absentee Ballots though, and Conway did much better than these. Rand is also relatively less strong in rural areas than most KY Republicans.

I'm not panicked at all, because the polls are really in our favor pretty dramatically, but I'll feel better when more of the suburban/exurban numbers come in.

As I warned you, it's going to be some time before we get any sort of meaningful results from Indiana and Kentucky. The biggest potential surprise so far is in Indiana's 2nd district, where Jackie Walorski, the Republican, has a 1,500-vote lead so far on Joe Donnelly, but only 3 percent of precincts have reported. If Mr. Donnelly lost, especially by a significant margin, that would be a bad sign for the Democrats.

Conway needed 60% in each if he wanted to get as close as Mongiardo did in '04 against Bunning. And Mongiardo had some presence outside of the cities. I doubt Conway had any.

And that was in a "normal" year. If Rand gets the tea party/2010 boost this could turn into a real massacre.

It's 50-50 in heavily-democratic Fayette county. Conway needed to clean up there and Paul may even win it.

Nate Silver thinks Paul is hurting Barr...

O.K., here's a sign that tonight might not be an apocalypse for Democrats: the Kentucky Third District, where John Yarmuth, a Democrat, had been favored but the polling had been erratic, has been called for him. The other vulnerable Democrat in Kentucky, Ben Chandler, is also leading so far in Kentucky's Sixth District. Even though Rand Paul has won the Senate race in Kentucky, I'm not sure he didn't hurt the G.O.P. at the margins down ballot.

Double-digit win = Randslide

Is the thread title ever going to be changed to reflect these new numbers?

We should be up more. The uninspiring McCain won by 17 points against Obama to boot. No Obama and less of a spread?

Wow! CNN's slow. Sorry about the late update.
Think Barr will call for a recount?

McCain didn't have Organizing for America and the unions and the Dream act team imported from out of state, doing ground work and smearing him.

Victory will be very decisive but probably not "Randslide" material. Looks to be heading for about 12%???

The last Rasmussen poll of the race had Paul up 12 too.

Nailed it.

To be honest, I thought it would be a larger margin. Doesn't matter though, Rand Paul is coming to the Senate!

Bunning won this seat by less than 1% in 2004. I would say this qualifies as a Randslide. 12% victory is nothing to sneeze at.

I'm really glad that Rand won, but I really that he had a lot of momentum and would win by more than 12. I guess I was just too optimistic. Hopefully people in Kentucky will love Rand after he becomes Senator.

I bet a good bit decided to stay home once the latest 15pt lead polls were released.
