As the 2010 election goes into its final inning, the wheels of justice are turning in the federal district court in Anchorage over the Miller–Murkowski Senate race. As I posted yesterday, a federal lawsuit was filed on Saturday over the Friday decision of the Alaska Supreme Court to approve a list of write-in candidates to be used in polling places. The federal court has told the defendant, the state of Alaska, to file a response to the request for a temporary restraining order by 1:00 today (5:00 p.m. EST), and the plaintiffs then have until 3:00 (7:00 p.m. EST) to file a reply. So, at some point late tonight, we can probably expect a decision from the court over the request for an injunction under the Voting Rights Act lawsuit filed against the use of the write-in list.
