I just wrote a blog post about doublethink (from 1984) and examples of it in the current conservative/neo-conservative debate.

Permanent Link to Doublethink: Alive and Well in American Politics (http://www.micahnelson.com/?p=125)

I think it gives some pretty good insights and could make some people question the beliefs the hold.

Some Examples include:

“We cannot leave Iraq because it would become a hotbed for terrorism. The country would spiral out of control and sink into chaos.”

“The media portrays Iraq to be far worse than it is in reality. The constant stories of violence are nothing compared to the truth of our success in Iraq.”

and...

“We must not surrender our freedoms to the terrorists.”

“In a post 9/11 world we have to sacrifice some liberties to be more secure.”

Feel free to comment or pass around.
