View Full Version : Erick Erickson's Compelling Statement to the Republican Freshman Class

Impressive. And I totally agree with his sentiment.

http://www.redstate.com/erick/2010/10/31/an-open-letter-to-the-freshman-republican-victors/

Remember that every poll showing a Republican landslide on Tuesday also shows that the public hates these men.

Introduce yourself to Jeb Hensarling, Jeff Flake, and Jim Jordan. Talk with your fellow freshmen like Tim Huelskamp, Justin Amash, and Jeff Duncan. Those are the people who will become your closest friends who you’ll share a foxhole with when leadership fails you but a battle must be waged.

The people telling you this are the people the voters hate and you should not trust. Largely they will be people in leadership, particularly staffers, who will soon depart for K Street where they hope to profit off their relationship with you. They will work with people like Trent Lott to try to co-opt you.

Fight.

Fight them.

Fight the idea that you must yield to their ways instead of them yielding to your ways. You, after all, have not been driven from power like these men have.

You will have friends you did not know you had who really are your friends when you stand up and fight your leadership. Do not let the Rules Committee be a tool of Leadership. Do not men like Jerry Lewis who helped drive us from power in 2006 remain in power. Do not let leadership have control over committee assignments.

Do not trust Mitch McConnell and Lame-R! Alexander and John Boehner and Eric Cantor and Kevin McCarthy even though they did so much for you. Remember, as much as they did for you, you are more important to them than they are to you. But for you, they would still be in the minority.

Do not trust the leadership’s staff. They view many of you as problems and potential disasters despite that you will vote more reliably Republican than their preferred candidates and pets.

I won't judge a man by his brother. Apparently Jeb is more of a small government guy, from what I've heard.

Yes. Because Liberty doesn't allow for individual beliefs among family memebers. Liberty is about the collective. Bush is not a person, but a collective entity. Yay for collectivism.

Give me a break.

And no, I don't like Jeb Bush. But give me a break.

2 bushes is enough

I wouldn't vote for the man. But not because his last name is Bush. What if Bush had cousin with the same last name, who happened to believe in limited government, non-interventionism, free-markets, and civil liberties?

Would you really vote against him because of the last name?...Because two Bushes are enough. I realize that is hypothetical, but I am not a reflection of my father's politics, nor my sisters. Perhaps Jeb Bush is, but it is my disagreement with policies that I would vote against, not his bleeping name.

Why does anyone listen to Erick Ericson? The man is a confused sociopath. Wants to increase the Police State, but then also wants to cut taxes, and not run deficits? Let me cue you in on something -- THATS FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE. Anyone who advocates bullshit should be rightfully ignored.

I'll judge Jeb based on the fact that he was one of the original signers of the PNAC document. And the fact that he is a Bush is relevant.

You are wrong. Anybody with that kind of audience should be influenced and encouraged.

What audience?

Red State's alexa ranking is 9930

Alex Jones' Infowars is 2631

Yeah, he's got some people that read his blog, but we've got almost that many here.

It's not like Red State is some monolithic, huge, site.

Bush Jr. didn't believe in nation building, either

Fool me once... (actually I was never fooled, I didn't have an opinion on Bush vs. Dukakis, I was only 10 at the time, but didn't trust either.. I was a Perot man in '96, Nader in '00 and '04)

Ok, I'll expand it for clarification...

"I use libertarian philosophy to fool people and to defend and promote global corporatism, and I'm also a global socialist Oligarch war-monger, but I am not an American."

Erick, like many of the Hannitized, can flash some good rhetoric on occasion, and I agree with this blog post of his; but then, alas, he votes to re-elect bailouters, etc. & so on.

Actions speak louder than words. Period.

Son of a Bush!

As far as I'm concerned if the american people vote another Bush into office in my lifetime we might as well give up all pretenses and accept that we are still under the thumb of a monarchy.

I was banned from RedState for pointing out that Kevin McCarthy wrote the "Pledge to America." Seems criticizing the GOP leadership is restricted to they themselves only.
