Let them eat cake! You gotta read this....

To ensure fool-proof security, the President’s team has booked the entire the Taj Mahal Hotel, including 570 rooms, all banquets and restaurants. Since his security contingent and staff will comprise a huge number, 125 rooms at Taj President have also been booked, apart from 80 to 90 rooms each in Grand Hyatt and The Oberoi hotels. The NCPA, where the President is expected to meet representatives from the business community, has also been entirely booked. [devil21: Why is the US president meeting with INDIAN businessmen at your expense while the US economy is crumbling? You're paying for him to outsource your job.]
The officer said, “Obama’s contingent is huge. There are two jumbo jets coming along with Air Force One, which will be flanked by security jets. There will be 30 to 40 secret service agents, who will arrive before him. The President’s convoy has 45 cars, including the Lincoln Continental in which the President travels.”

Since Obama will stay in a hotel that is on sea front, elaborate coastal security arrangements have been made by the US Navy in consonance with the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard. “There will be US naval ships, along with Indian vessels , patrolling the sea till about 330-km from the shore. This is to negate the possibility of a missile being fired from a distance,” the officer said.

I'm pretty sure that is SoP for presidential trips to buy out the whole hotel any time they travel.

Any presidential travel is a waste of tax payers dollars...

It's not just Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Regan, etc... pretty sure they all did this.

The hotel is just the tip of the iceberg, nevermind that there were less opulent accomodations available in such a large city as Mumbai. Did you read the whole article? They've even mobilized the US Navy to patrol the coast near the hotel!

I wouldn't be surprised if something big happens during this trip. Right after the elections...

Also, somewhat SoP for presidential security around the water. Usually it's just the coast guard here in the US, but abroad, might as well give the navy something to do.

Honestly, I wish these guys would just send ambassadors instead of making these costly trips.

And what is wrong with that modern marvel-the telephone?

Not to mention video conferences.

Now times have changed. Now USA debts has reached $60 Trillion to $200 Trillion. Other USA presidents could afford expensive travels on taxpayer's money but Obama cannot afford expensive travel on taxpayer's money.

American corporations are all in India... Cheap Slave/Poverty Labor.

Plus the Imperial Regime has to kiss some ass to ascending developing nations with a Billion plus "Resources to exploit on the global markets.

Yeah... Whether it was Dubya W Bush saber rattling in Iraq, Pakistan, etc...or acting like a moronic dancing fool in Africa, the Propagandists Of The United States continue their aristocratic imperialism.

The US State Department's $53 BILLION budget this year I presume is not enough... considering these hacks also add lot's of supplement expenses to add even Billions more to the People's Debt Pile.

100's of Embassies/Consulates, 1000's of State Department employees and building new Billion dollar Bunker style strongholds I guess, aren't enough to communicate with foreign governments/regimes.

All the encrypted communications of the highest caliber by the NSA for government isn't enough to teleconference, telex, phones, video... to other leaders are all unacceptable.

Amazing 17-18% unemployment and the Aristocrats don't blink an eye on the $100's of millions in travel expenses.

obama is the idiot for wasting tax payer money. the best thing for india would be if the socialist keynesian scum stayed out of their business. waste of time and money.

and the hicks complaining about outsourcing are idiots. fifty percent of the indian immigrants that come here are entrepreneurs, they create jobs. enough with the sensationalist racist garbage.

.

can we stop with the racist generalization. it's not slave labor. it a living wage compared to their cost of living. not to mention they haven't been taken over by extreme bureaucratic regulations.

and unlike here the poor have to work instead of living off of taxpayer money.

FUCK YOU! There's nothing racist in my statement

I've been all over India, Pakistan, and many other central asia states. The people are exploited by business, organized crime, elites, and government. oh there's the few exceptions.

Yes, well when you are shitting into a hole in the ground used by your entire neighborhood you might want to add "standard of living" to your little equation there. sure, technically it isn't "slave labor".

Yes, working condition absolutely suck over there compared to here. However, before significant economic development came to the US, working conditions were horrible here. In a lot of these instances of "slave labor" in India and China, it is a step up from what they would be doing if these jobs weren't available. (i.e. prostitution, etc)

Is it slave labor? Yes, absolutely.
But it is also better than they had before. You can't solve the world's economic problems overnight.

the times are tense right now due to the halfway mark of the mid-east wikiweeks papers.
