One problem... an easy access, one stop shop for collecting personal information on these activists and their 1st amendment right activities. ;)

It's also pretty hard to spread a message to new people when those in the social network already (mostly) agree with you.

I learned a long time ago to not worry about that kind of thing. The government already has all the information on anyone they choose to have it on. I know my file is probably a mile thick anyway so I could care less what else they ad to it. I am very open about the fact that I think they suck.

Yep. And if they are out to get you they will just fabricate anything about you they want anyway.
They do suck.

libertarians never seem to think of that. Peter Schiff targets libertarians. Andrew Napolitano targets libertarians. Rockwell targets libertarians. They do this without any subtlety yet many will argue Schiff and The Judge are spreading the message of liberty.

Compare with Stossel who used to target schoolkids and general consumers. His new show also places him in the irrelevance of FBN unfortunately, but his Stossel In The Classroom project continues to strengthen. This could be because Stossel did not start in journalism/talk-show-host as a libertarian but built credibility as being objective and non-partisan. With Judge Nap and Schiff, you know you're getting spin. I've been involved with SitC and I can tell you that Stossel gets his pro-liberty voice out to the open-but-ignorant crowd every day in classrooms.

You can't gain followers from your own base of followers. - So RTR will need to serve another purpose to be a viable website, but what is left when RPFs already serves as both a news source and social networking site?

This. So you have 24,000 who already agreed with you even before they joined.

While ignoring the 500,000,000 on Facebook.

I agree that we need to fucus more on conversion than preaching to the choir, it's fun to get together to remember your not crazy once in awhile.

Stossel is great gateway drug, I remember watching him as a kid way before I heard of RP and he really made more independant thinking and served as the primer for when I listened to RP

Actually, Franchi released this article about a week ago found in full here: http://www.federaljack.com/?p=17374

(snip)

The new website found at http://RTR.org functions as a Social Network, and permits you to use your Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, or Google login and password to enter the site. Using a unique application the user’s credentials are checked against the credentials stored at the chosen method of login.

Gary Franchi and team are in the process of creating video tutorials on the powerful features the site offers. One such feature allows you to command your entire “Social Universe” by broadcasting your “status update” to Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and Linkedin.

Franchi says, “I’m confident once you realize the potential of this application you will make http://RTR.org your one stop on the web for all your social networking needs.”

With this powerful new tool at your fingertips you have access to the entire 23,000+ online members of Restore the Republic and the ability to communicate across all of your connected social networks with the click of just a few buttons.

(my comment: so the site will publish updates and activity to FB reaching outside the RTR membership)

Franchi says, “We have always prided ourselves of being on the cutting edge of internet technology and want to be sure you, and your work, benefit from our knowledge of these online applications.”

Another amazing integration that Franchi and team implemented is the merging of all “Social Walls.” He explains, “After logging in, you use the application at http://RTR.org/socialdna, select the accounts you want to connect, then add them to your “My Social” tab on the user’s home page, now you can view your Facebook and twitter feed in one place, alongside the flurry of info the RTR members are posting.”

Unlike Facebook who changes their privacy settings every few months to expose members private details, http://RTR.org has strict settings in place to ensure your privacy at the onset of joining so your details are not made available to the public without your consent.

Keeping security in mind, Franchi has employed one of the nations leading “Ethical Hackers” to lock down the site from outside intruders.

Franchi continues, “I am sure once you use the site you will agree this tool will soon catapult all of our efforts even further into the American consciousness raising the specter of public awareness for our plight to restore our beloved republic.”

Take a moment, visit: http://RTR.org/signup, create an account (or log in with your existing Facebook account credentials), and browse the features they offer. If you feel this site is to your standards, please invite your friends from Facebook using the site’s Facebook Invite feature at http://RTR.org/invite

solidarity and organization will be necessary in the future. Maybe this can help. How else do rebels find themselves able to pull off revolutions??

I suppose they could just use RPF for that.
