My second to youngest bro... set to deploy to Iraq in '08.

He joined the guard a few months after I came back from OIF1 in a coma, because he wanted to serve in a branch that was "safe." Doh.

It's not officially set in stone, but it's pretty much guaranteed anyway. Thanks, Bush.

Coast Guard and the Air Force are the safest branches in terms of not being in direct line of fire. Vietnam, Kosovo, and Iraq had strained our national guard units.

I would think the Navy would be safer than the Coast Guard. We've had Coast Guard running defensive patrols on our ships in the Persian Gulf.

One of my good friends got his orders two weeks ago.

He said if it was a legitimate war he would be fine with it. But fighting for corporate greed kind of makes you want to drag your feet.

It sucks...
