"Rand Paul, an ophthalmologist, was unavailable to make remarks Wednesday because he was performing 20 eye surgeries, his campaign manager Jesse Benton said."

20? Assuming an 8 hour surgical day that is more than 2 an hour. They must be lined up assembly line fashion......

Rand Paul, the Henry Ford of eye surgery....

;) jk, I love that Rand's doing surgery while Jack is doing character assassination.

My guess is that he has been holding them up because of his schedule. Probably the last ones he'll do for a few weeks, and I'm guessing he hasn't done surgery in a few weeks either.

I know quite a few who do them. That's not unusual if you've been backed up.

(Hi, Everyone...finally found my password!) A friend of mine considering surgery told me yesterday that the new cataract surgery takes something like 6-10 minutes. So feasibly, a good number of surgeries could be done in one day, esp. in a facility where set-up can occur for more than one patient. My dentist would have three or four patients in chairs at a time, letting the techs do the prepping, etc. This might explain the number.

When I got my eyes fixed, the doctor knocked out like more than 3 eye surgeries per hour.

From the time I got inside the room, laid down, and the procedure was finished, it was under 15 minutes. Then I just walked out of the room.

At least she manned up! ha :P

No knock at Rand, but I would not want him doing my eye surgery right now. He can't be on the top of his surgery game right now .

I'm sure he thanks you for that vote of confidence.

I doubt his hands are shaking.

He's the one who's winning, remember?

He's more rested now than when he was campaigning for his dad.

Rand must be a stud if he's still doing that many surgeries when he's under this kind of stress.

Performing surgery is probably a huge stress relief at this point. Being able to do something that he A. really loves and B. is good at probably lets him forget all the crap he has to deal with daily on the campaign trail.

Aqua buddha is the bread and butter too kooky in kentucky line of attack.

Only this time it really backfired.

Kelley told me that he gets really amped up and has an adrenaline rush on the days that he performs surgery. It really makes him feel good to be able to help people in that way.

I just joined the facebook group Aqua Buddha. Good Times.

One thing that I find interesting is that many hardcore liberal supporters of Conway (like the Louisville college crowd) respect Rand more after Aqua Buddha, because it shows he was a goofy college kid who had fun, and wasn't politician-in-training back then.

Kelley Paul uses phrases like "amped up?"

Upon further reflection I think the actual word was 'pumped' but I don't recall exactly so I didn't use quotations.
