now actors (and re-enactment is acting) have to worry about what role they play

unfortunately this guy is 100% neo-con

pretty shallow attack; if he was wearing it in public, it's one thing (even then, if he didn't wear any insignia, that's a bit different), but a re-enactment.

If everyone took the same stance as the GOP leader, then all re-enactments should be Americans fighting invisible Nazis.

I suppose Confederate reenactors should be arrested for treason for making war against the United States, as well? What about people who reenact for Britain in the Revolution, should they be suspected of being Loyalists who want to restore Elizabeth II as queen?

While oftentimes reenactors will have some sort of sympathy for the people they reenact, that does not mean all of them do. This has to be one of the poorest criticisms of a candidate I have ever seen.

Placing his neocon views aside, this is just a pathetic out-of-context criticism that should've never been made.

Unfortunately, I think plenty of people have already passed judgment without some in depth investigation.

Lastly, I don't think he had a shot at winning the district anyway.

He mentioned that he had done re-enactments of WWI, WW2, and the Civil War too, all in American roles. It is obviously just his hobby. I agree; it is sad somebody is attacked for this.

Anderson Cooper making a big deal about this, and Eric Cantor withdrew support for Iott

today, they would criticize Reagan for sleeping with Bonzo

If I was in his district, I might consider voting for him just because he is being attacked for something this stupid. This shows the pure emotionalism that drives politics these days. I mean, for organizations to come out and attack someone for reenacting when it is clearly a hobby is flat-out ridiculous, and I would sue each and every one of them for slander if I was on the receiving end of this.

I'm not sure what to think on this one, it's kinda funny to me. It is obviously ridiculous and mean to slander someone as an actual Nazi for simply doing a re-enactment. However the guy is a neo-con(I'm assuming from the thread title), which means he's pretty much a strong supporter of National Socialism.

Heh... :o

While neoconism is authoritarian, it is not national socialism. The "national" part is the belief in the superiority of one's own nation to the exclusion of all immigrants and resident foreigners. Neoconism fails this because its belief in American Exceptionalist nonsense is not based on superiority of American nationality, but that America represents all that is good in the world, namely freedom and democracy. Neoconism is also not socialist in that it does not advocate for the widespread public ownership or control of industry as national socialism does.

I thought Jews always say "Never Forget" when referring to the Holocaust, so why is Cantor upset about a WWII reenactment?

Screw Cantor and the other idiots. Did I miss something? This is the same as saying all of the Nazis actors in Schindler's list disrespected Jews.

It's like the collective IQ is so low now, that reality and play can't be distinguished from each other anymore.

Cantor is an idiot.

No, but I dare you to win an election on it.

I don't care what of but the whole idea of reenactment and people that are obsessed with this stuff seems off to me.
