Branching off from the previous thread (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=263824), I thought this might be interesting.

Who would you rather see win the US Senate race in Wisconsin?

Ron Johnson- Republican
Russ Feingold- Democrat
Rob Taylor- Constitution
None of the above or I would not vote

Considering the choices are two fascists and a communist, NOTA.

Feingold. I can see him working with Rand on a lot of things, like restoring habeas corpus.

Didn't Feingold vote in favor of the Patriot Act under Obama?

Well I didn't hear about that, but if it's true that does knock his stock down quite a few points.

i was asking because i don't know, but it seems he didn't vote for reauthorization ever (http://feingold.senate.gov/issues_timelinepatriot2.html), so he voted correctly on that.

i almost want to support Feingold for his lonely opposition to the Patriot Act. But his positions against the first amendment, second amendment, for forcing you to buy health care, and for having a living constitution make me want him to lose.

Well of course he's somewhat of a socialist. But because of his hard stance against the patriot act and military commissions act, I think we would definitely be worse off if some neo-con republican disguised a Tea Party candidate took his spot.

i guess it's sort of whether you prefer the devil you know over the one you don't. i'm in the preferring the evil you don't know category. i prefer an evil incumbent to lose over a new evil candidate.

As a Wisconsinite I am still torn on who to vote for. Feingold did vote against the patriot act and the bail outs, but he voted for healthcare, the stimulus, and other pieces of legislation that are awful. Johnson's problem is his stances. I may jsut have to go and vote for the constitution candidate. Johnson and Feingold are pretty horrible.

I actually agree with you for once. I think Russ is the Jim Demint of the Democrats. In other words, he is about as good as you can hope for for a democrat, although far from perfect.

He was great on all civil liberty violations, esp FISA. This is a guy that will ally himself with Rand and others, if another 911 occurs. He will also be a great antiwar ally. We need guys both on the left and the right to slow the government down.

We will regret this once the neocons get back in power, and they pimp for wars and police state, and suddenly economics will be on the back burner again.

Audit the Fed. Audit the Fed. AUDIT THE FED.

Unless I missed the memo that this is not longer one of the most important issues, Fiengold is one of the few voices that supported auditing the fed and also voted for the Vitter amendment.

He also voted against the financial bill.
