Priority H: Oppose H.R. 5504, Improving Nutrition for America’s Children Act. (http://www.votervoice.net/Core.aspx?AID=972&Screen=alert&IssueId=22755)

The Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010, S. 3307, was unanimously passed in the Senate, but hit a snag in the House when 107 Democrats wrote Speaker Pelosi a letter urging her not to bring S. 3307 up for a vote. Pelosi will support, instead, H.R. 5504, Improving Nutrition for America’s Children Act, which should move forward sometime after September 13. H.R. 5504 is very similar to S. 3307. If the House passes H.R. 5504, the two bills would need to be reconciled at some point. Both bills dramatically expand federal involvement, not just in the public school venue but outside of it as well. The federal government should not take on, or usurp the role of parents in the areas of food, nutrition, and body shapes. Urge your representative to oppose H.R. 5504 or any other similar bill.

Priority H: Oppose the SAFER AIR Act of 2010, S. 3536, that would install full-body scanning machines in every airport in the nation. (http://www.votervoice.net/Core.aspx?AID=972&Screen=alert&IssueId=22693)

S. 3536, the Securing Aircraft From Explosives Responsibly: Advanced Imaging Recognition Act of 2010, (SAFER AIR Act) states its purpose: “To enhance aviation security and protect personal privacy, and for other purposes....” Having a TSA agent view your virtually naked body is a violation of your privacy and civil rights guaranteed by the Fourth Amendment. Adult and child images have been saved on these machines, even though DHS policy already forbids such practices. Contact your senators and tell them to vote against S. 3536, which would install full-body scanning machines in every airport in the nation.

Priority H: Stop the Livable Communities Act of 2009, S. 1619 and H.R. 4690. (http://www.votervoice.net/Core.aspx?AID=972&Screen=alert&IssueId=22786)

This bill would establish in the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) an Office of Sustainable Housing and Communities (OSHC). The OSHC Director would be required to make comprehensive planning and sustainability grants to various local and regional planning organizations to: (1) promote integrated transportation, housing, energy, and economic development activities carried out across policy and governmental jurisdictions; (2) promote sustainable and location efficient development; and (3) implement projects identified in a comprehensive regional plan. In other words, these sustainability grants would be used by local and regional planning groups to minimize the carbon footprint of Americans (thereby minimizing global warming) by limiting miles travelled to work, limiting choices of where to live, etc, etc. Tell your representative and senators that you want them to vigorously oppose this collectivist legislation that would severely limit personal mobility, private enterprise, home ownership, and the rights of property owners.

Priority O: Oppose H.R. 3534 — Help Defeat the CLEAR Act. (http://www.votervoice.net/Core.aspx?AID=972&Screen=alert&IssueId=22577)

H.R. 3534 (the CLEAR act) would lock up land use for tourism and more importantly, for the use of the natural resource including land, forestry, minerals, oil and gas, and aquatic, by our nation’s industries. Restricting access to natural resources which do not belong to the government via licenses, fees, royalties and fines, will further depress our economy and cause higher unemployment, sending even more jobs overseas. The House passed H.R. 3534 by 209-193 on July 30. Ask your senators to protect private property and all land use rights by defeating the very unconstitutional CLEAR Act, H.R. 3534, or similar legislation.

Priority H: Help Block the Obama Administration's Lawsuit Against Arizona SB 1070. (http://www.votervoice.net/Core.aspx?AID=972&Screen=alert&IssueId=22545)

Senators Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and David Vitter (R-La.) introduced an amendment designed to stop the Obama administration’s lawsuit against the State of Arizona and its taxpayers for S.B. 1070, the immigration bill that went into effect on July 29. However, the Senate defeated the DeMint-Vitter Amendment #4464, by a 55-43 vote. Urge your senators, should this amendment, or one like it, come up again, to vote in favor of it. Also, urge your congressional representative to introduce, cosponsor, and vigorously support a similar measure in the House.

Priority H: Support H.R. 4972, “To repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act”; Force the House to Vote on Repealing ObamaCare. (http://www.votervoice.net/Core.aspx?AID=972&Screen=alert&IssueId=22401)

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) introduced H.R. 4972, “To repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.” The bill reads: “Effective as of the enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act [ObamaCare], such Act is repealed, and the provisions of law amended or repealed by such Act are restored or revived as if such Act had not been enacted.” Rep. King has taken a further step to keep the pressure on Congress to repeal ObamaCare by introducing a “discharge petition,” otherwise known as a “Motion to Discharge a Committee from the Consideration of a resolution.” If 218 members of the House can be persuaded to sign this petition, then this bill would bypass any committee action or House leadership vetoes and be sent to the House floor for a vote. As of July 30, 170 representatives have signed the discharge petition. If your representative is not one of them, contact him or her now and request that they sign Rep. King’s discharge petition to force a vote on repealing ObamaCare.

Priority H: Stop the New START Treaty (http://www.votervoice.net/Core.aspx?AID=972&Screen=alert&IssueId=22374)

On April 8, 2010, in Prague, President Barack Obama and Russian President Dimitry Medvedev signed the New START (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty) Treaty, the latest installment in a long series of disarmament treaties between the United States and Russia (formerly the Soviet Union) that began in 1961. It must be ratified by 67 U.S. senators, and the Russian Parliament, of course, in order to take effect. The Obama administration and top brass in the military are in favor of quick ratification. On June 28 the New York Post reported that some senators asked for the negotiating record for START but that their request has been denied by the Obama administration. After the June 17 Senate hearings on New Start, Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) said: “I said this when the Treaty was signed in April and my sentiments remain the same: I remain concerned about several critical pieces of this security treaty: modernization, force structure, missile defense, verification and most importantly, our overall ability to deter our enemies.”

And S. 510 is not on this list because...?

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s111-510

Govtrack's main article is now about how S 510 will be coming up for a vote in the lame duck session. Note how many Democrats and Republicans have signed on to this bill:

Dick Durbin (D-IL)
Jeff Bingaman (D-NM)
Roland Burris (D-IL)
Rober Casey (D-PA)
Christopher Dodd (D-CT)
Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)
Thomas Harkin (D-IA)
Edward Kaufman (D-DE)
Amy Klobuchar (D-MN)
Robert Menendez (D-NJ)
Ben Nelson (D-NE)
Tom Udall (D-NM)

Total: 12

Lamar Alexander (R-TN)
Richard Burr (R-NC)
Saxby Chambliss (R-GA)
Michael Enzi (R-WY)
Judd Gregg (R-NH)
Orrin Hatch (R-UT)
John Isakson (R-GA)
David Vitter (R-LA)

Total: 8

Don't forget that virtually all current Senators are enemies of liberty. We hear a lot about how good "gridlock" is, but keep in mind, Democrats and Republicans agree on much more than they disagree about. Their votes on this bill is a perfect example.
