Nightingale for Governor Volunteers to Protest Debate Black-Out

Davis, California – Supporters and volunteers of the Nightingale for Governor Campaign are set to protest outside of the UC Davis Whitman-Brown Debate held at the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center Center for the Performing Arts today at 4:00pm, preceding the televised debate scheduled between 6pm and 7pm this evening.

Despite this debate being promoted, hosted, and sponsored by the publically-funded University of California, UC Davis has refused to allow all qualified candidates participate in the televised debate.

“Non-inclusive debates are not a new phenomenon,” said Christina Tobin, found and co-chair of The Free and Equal Elections Foundations. “However, the true purpose of candidate debates should be to provide a forum for all qualified candidates to discuss the issues and provide voters with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions at the polls.”

Repeated attempts by the Nightingale Campaign to negotiate inclusion in Tuesday’s debate with UC Davis have been unsuccessful. “Their behavior has been less than fair and equitable,” said attorney Gautam Dutta. “The University clearly sent an invitation to the Republican candidate back in June. The fact that they did not extend a similar invitation to the Nightingale Campaign is simply unmeritorious.”

The Nightingale Campaign was unable to continue with court proceedings due to budget restrictions.

“I would have enjoyed debating both Whitman and Brown,” said Nightingale. “I’m curious to see what they could possibly disagree on.”

Chelene Nightingale will make a call-in radio appearance on Los Angeles’ KFI AM640 The John and Ken Show at 5pm, immediately preceding the debate and will appear in front of the Mondavi Center shortly thereafter. The John and Ken Show claims to have the widest listenership of any other local radio station in the nation, with estimates reaching over 1 million listeners daily. Interested parties can listen live via the KFI website at www.kfiam640.com .

Chelene will be available to meet with media and supporters at the Mondavi Performing Arts Center located at 9399 Old Davis Rd, Davis, CA, 95616 beginning at 6pm.

Ironically, at the end they mimicked the infamous Glenn Beck/Medina truther question. They said "we have e-mails that say you are a truther or birther." At least they gave her more of a chance to answer, and she was ready.

All in all, mostly about border security, cutting government, turning on the water for Central Valley farmers. A few Sheriff Mack references on how she would do things.
