Just looked at him on On the Issues site, not impressed in the least, voted for TARP, supports Patriot Act, supports Iraq and Afghanistan, supports making tobacco FDA regulated.
Not impressed at all.

he voted for TARP and therefore has no chance whatsoever.

Does anyone have a list of those who didn't vote for bailouts of any kind?

If he gets 2% when the actual vote occurs, I'll be shocked. He beat Sen. Daschle, and I haven't heard of him doing anything since.

most of those who didn't vote for TARP didn't vote for any other bailout. so a list of the no votes for TARP might be your answer.

Only 17, all from the House of Represenatives, zero senators.

Of those potential presidential candidates who weren't in Congress during the bailout wave, the only one whom I think there might be some likelihood that he would have opposed all of them is Bobby Jindal.

Granted, that one was less egregious than the others.

What bailout did Mike Pence vote for? I know that he voted against TARP.

He's Huckabee style family values, got boo coos of cash, and likes them corn subsidies. He may win Iowa, and use the momentum for the nomination.
Watch out for him.

I'm going to nitpick a bit... aren't bailouts and stimulus different things, and if so, aren't you equating them?

Yeah, I agree they're different, and I was equating them, mainly because that rlc blog equates them.
However, that rebate act also included provisions to stop the decline of house prices in the subprime mortgage crisis, as a kind of bailout for home owners and financial institutions. That might have been the logic for including that act.

That was sold as a tax rebate. It wasn't really even a stimulus, let alone a bailout.

Whether it was a bailout or not I'm not sure for the reason I mentioned in my last post, but it was definitely a stimulus (in the sense of being the exact opposite of real economic stimulus, just like all the other stimulus bills), and every bit as keynesian as any other. It was sold as a tax rebate, but only by using "tax rebate" as code for "welfare check."

It's not the same as spending money on infrasructure, but yeah it's not exactly the same as cutting marginal tax rates either. Either way it's not nearly as bad of a vote as voting for TARP.

Definitely not. Especially since they sent those checks only to the people in the low tax brackets, including people who paid less in taxes than the $600 they got back, or even nothing at all, all at the expense of those in the higher brackets.
But I do agree, of the 5 things in that blog, that one was minor compared to the others.

Thune is a puppet, he was put into power by the republican establishment, under bush, they were trying to get daschel out of office, and their evil tricks worked, not that I liked daschel either. But yeah, thune is a puppet

This thug and Sen. Cornhole have been propped up as conservative contenders for 2012. Both are the same old neocon bomb, borrow, and spend that Bush was.

About that bailout list, I'd like to point out that 7/17 representatives on that list are representatives of the great state of Georgia ;) .
