I called my senators and one of the offices told me that the democrats did not have enough votes to bring cloture (debate) to an end which if I am understanding this correctly is a good thing. :)

I also let them know that I wanted them to vote against the S. 3804 from the other thread. Unfortunately it looked like Feinstein is a cosponsor :(

The DISCLOSE Act (Democracy is Strengthened by Casting Light on Spending in Elections Act) failed to pass a cloture vote in the Senate, as a result of a successful Republican filibuster, after which Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid filed a “motion to recommit” but on September 23 the vote failed yet again, 59 to 39, without a single Republican breaking ranks. by Raven ClaboughDISCLOSE Act Fails Yet Again (http://www.thenewamerican.com/index.php/usnews/politics/4682-disclose-act-fails-yet-again)
