Well, don't they usually keep trying till it passes? Seems to be the latest fad in the house.

Senate Defeats Motion to Allow Vote on Disclose Act Hurting Pro-Life Free Speech (http://www.lifenews.com/nat6723.html)

This time around, Senate Democrats failed to find enough votes for cloture on a closer 59-39 margin, just one vote shy of the 60 needed to end debate. Republicans were able to keep their party caucus together as liberals like Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine voted to sustain the filibuster.

Background on the DISCLOSE Act

To the dismay of free-speech advocates across the nation, the House of Representatives passed the DISCLOSE Act (Democracy Is Strengthened by Casting Light On Spending in Elections Act) yesterday evening by a vote of 219-206. by Raven Clabough

The fact that it was defeated is good.

Unfortunately, they will get their way soon enough. If anyone else lives in Nevada, be sure to NOT vote for Harry Reid, as he is damn near trying to railroad this thing through, and down our throats, and says its a good thing.

The big problem here is this essentially finishes off the Corpratization of the US Government. So we wage an Ad Campaign against someone, and its me, vs. Warren Buffet. I'll end up going bankrupt, losing everything I own, and starving to death to get a few TV spots on the air, and he probably thinks he spent more on last nights supper than the whole campaign, and walks away the winner.

I dont really get how this DISCLOSE thing is even supposed to be a good thing? It becomes public information that so and so sponsored some lackey they want in? Really? Most people dont check any of that information and take what is spoon fed to them by an already biased media!

Yeah the CFL got on it hot and heavy and I got the 912'ers in TN on it too. I think even the JBS was spreading the word. Good exercise in how well connected activism can influence government.
