The New York Library is pretty huge isn't it? I would imagine there would be a large staff along with security etc. He'd have to have a pretty hefty salary.

The best thing they could do is just privatize it.

The New York Public Library is a massive institution/building, and actually has a lot of cool stuff like a room full of extremely old and some ancient maps of the world.

In New York City, $100k/yr is not a lot of money when you consider taxes and that renting a 1br in a decent neighborhood is the equivalent to a $500k mortgage.

All that aside, I am sure there is a ton of waste there just like anything else the State runs.
