Trooper Causes Fatal Crash, Wants Worker's Comp

http://www.newser.com/story/101102/ex-trooper-causes-crash-wants-compensation.html

(User Submitted) – A former Illinois state trooper guilty of causing a double-fatal crash in 2007 is applying for worker's compensation for the injuries he sustained in the wreck. Prosecutors say trooper Matt Mitchell was driving 126 mph down the highway while texting on his phone when he crashed into a car and killed two sisters. Mitchell pleaded guilty to reckless homicide in exchange for a sentence of 30 months' probation.

Now he wants worker's comp for his leg injuries. "This man has no shame," says the lawyer representing the two girls who died in the crash. "He has no shame when he files for worker’s compensation benefits.” Read the full article here or see more details at the Belleville News-Democrat.

Clearly the problem was due to a lack of workplace safety regulations.

Edit: oh, and 30month probation for reckless homocide. They really threw the book at him didn't they.

This is right down the road from me. It's sickening. The asshole sat on paid leave for two years until he was finally fired. At almost $70,000 a year, after killing the girls and hurting a pregnant lady and her husband. They let him plea down a deal. He got hurt in the process of two counts of manslaughter, and he walked.

They won't even let you leave comments on the local newspaper website when it concerns this case. There have been threats of death and maiming. Many threats.

I don't know how the fucking douchebag can sleep at night.

30 months....probation for killing two individuals. Wow. He has to watch himself for two-and-a-half years, and that's it, and in the mean time he can live off the rest of us until he recovers.

Whatever happened justice in society? Oh yeah...the State happened.

Very well, obviously.

You see, Mundane, it does not matter that two fellow Mundanes got killed.

Only the Officer's safety is what matters here.

If the Officer had been killed by a Mundane doing what he did, well, that person would be cooling their heels in the stony lonesome for the next 20 years.

Oh, and there would have been a massive parade of prettily clad tax feeders marching through the city streets in phalanxes by the thousands.
