A shooting at Fort Bliss Army base in Texas forcing the area into lock-down Monday afternoon, U.S. Army officials confirmed to Fox News.
Officials said shots were fired inside Shopette, a convenience store on base. They are sealing off the area and closing the gates at Fort Bliss.

Details about the identity of the shooter or about possible casualties are still unclear.
A press conference is underway.

Hear here. This just doesn't sound right either: but here's hoping it was just some menial dispute or 'ordinary' crime, and that it won't become some insane 'terrist' plot... (read: excuse to pass PATRIOT 4)

As it stands, it happening at the Shopette, I am guessing it was just "ordinary" crime, in other words nothing that should really be splashed all over national breaking news.

lol I dunno, when I was stationed in Hawaii fresh out of Boot, I was walking across an intersection where some jokester was on top of a 7 story building throwing canalopes watermelons and blood melons down at people. I remember seeing a bright red 'splash' about two foot to my front right and hearing what sounded like a soft concussion, and the very next thing I remember was crouching with my back against a stack of newspaper vending boxes (with the fruit tosser behind me) and holding an imaginary rifle checking my six for targets. I hadn't even known it, instinct and all, but my friends later informed me that I had actually low-crawled to that position faster than they could run it. :D

Fort Bliss commander: 2 dead in post shooting

EL PASO, Texas — The Fort Bliss commander says two people are dead after a shooting at a small grocery store on the West Texas Army post.

Col. Joseph A. Simonelli Jr. declined to discuss details or identify the victims of the Monday afternoon incident.

Simonelli said the area was roped off for an FBI investigation, but the sprawling facility next to El Paso was never under lockdown.

Simonelli says the shooting was reported about 3 p.m. local time and authorities responded in about three minutes.

The Gates at Fort Bliss in Texas Are Being Closed As the Fort Goes on Lockdown After a Shooting Monday Afternoon

Unconfirmed reports state that the shooting may have been a murder-suicide inside a Burger King on the base, but it is not known at this time what the motive for the shooting was or if any military personnel were involved. Other reports state that the shooting occurred inside a mini-mart called Shopette on Cassidy Road.

The El Paso Times is reporting that one person was shot on the base.

Spokesperson Dieter Jester did confirm that there was a 'weapons discharge' at Fort Bliss.

A press conference is expected to be held soon.

It is unclear if anyone has been killed at this time.

Fort Bliss is a United States Army Post in New Mexico and Texas and is the second largest military installation behind White Sands Missile Range.

Unconfirmed reports are that it was a murder-suicide at the Burger King at Fort Bliss. We don’t have much more detail than that.

The base is on lockdown and a press conference is coming shortly. Watch it here

EL PASO, Texas — Fort Bliss officials have confirmed that a shooting occurred on the military base Monday afternoon.

It was not immediately clear how many people were shot or the condition of the possible victims. It is also not know whether the shooting involved military personnel. However there are unconfirmed reports that the shooting may have been a murder-suicide at a Burger King.

LOL, Gunny after graduating boot, San Diego, I decided to watch a movie the day before I flew out. The movie was "Scarface." 3/4 of the way through the movie I had to hit the head from drinking a few on the way there. While in the lobby there was a gunshot/backfire on the street outside. Of the dozen peeps in the lobby I was the only to take cover. :D
